What exactly does HeavenlyLabor Massage Oil help with?

Heavenly Labor Massage Oil is a 100% natural, safe and effective formula of essential therapeutic oils for use during labor to soothe and relax, relieve labor and back pains and promote healthy contractions. It is very effective when used along with a gentle massage of the abdomen or lower back area during labor.

What does HeavenlyLabor Massage Oil contain?

Heavenly Labor Massage Oil contains the following 100% pure essential oils:

Clary Sage Oil strengthens the respiratory and muscular systems during labor and facilitates regular, effective contractions which speed up the birth process. This essential oil also relieves pain and tension.

Lavender Oil dulls and eases uterine pain and also increases the strength of contractions while calming the mother. Lavender can promote relaxation and prevent and reduce nausea.

Jasmine Oil improves strength and efficiency of contractions, reduces labor pains and increases breast-milk supply.

How do I use HeavenlyLabor Massage Oil?

Place bottle in container of hot (not boiling) water to warm. Pour approximately 5 ml onto hands and massage slowly and gently onto the back and abdominal areas during labor. Listen to the mother and continue for as long as needed.

Caution: Not for use during pregnancy, except during labor. Not intended for infants.

What is the shelf life?

You will find a white sticker under the bottle with the expiry date on it. It is best stored in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight.

What are the advantages of massage during labor?

Women who are massaged by their partners, midwives, doulas or other support figures during labor experience pain relief and have even been shown to have shorter labors overall. Touch and massage also help a woman relax and the more relaxed she is the more efficient labor will be. When a woman is stressed, she releases adrenaline which counteracts the effects of oxytocin, the hormone that produces contractions. Massage helps to release feel-good endorphins to assist with a natural birth experience.

How should the massage be done?

Gentle rubbing of the abdomen and deeper massage of the lower back during contractions generally prove the most useful and effective technique - although each woman will have her own preferences during labor. Begin gently and allow the mother to be your best guide as to what she needs during her unique experience of labor.

Don't neglect other areas such as the head, face, feet and hands which can become tense during labor. Muscles can be kneaded between the thumb and fingers. Massage strokes should be continuous, rhythmic, and definite, going from up to down and down to up without lifting the hands.

Can I use this massage oil during pregnancy?

NO - as the oils chosen for HeavenlyLabor Massage Oil are known to stimulate contractions, it is not recommended during pregnancy and is to be used during labor only.

NO - this massage oil is intended for adult women during labor.

New babies have very sensitive skin and aromatherapy essential oils should not be used on newborns. Only selected essential oils may be used on babies over 12 weeks old.

What else can I do?

Prepare yourself mentally, physically and spiritually for the birth by reading books on childbirth, joining a support group for pregnant women, speaking to mothers of children or your own mother or mother-in-law. Taking good care of yourself in the form of a balanced diet, getting enough rest, relieving stress, meditating and talking with your partner about the future will be invaluable in preparing yourself for labor, birth and parenthood.

Organize a birth plan including the place you would like to deliver, who should be present and your preferences of medical interventions in different circumstances.

A supportive environment at the birth has been shown to be one of the most important factors in the speed of delivery and how much pain the mother feels. Think carefully about who you would like to have present at the birth for support and consider a trained doula or birthing assistant.
