New Infant Crib Sheet that Stays where you put it

The arrival of a baby indicates a whole new shopping list. There are various items that need to be purchased for the comfort of a baby to protect them against environmental hazards, SIDS and accidents.

Among other things, parents obviously want to provide factory fresh or new homemade clothes, bedding and toys for the baby. Sometimes just the magnitude of purchases and the amount of money involved compels parents into choosing secondhand items or traditionally designed products. Such an action can prove to be very risky for your baby.

Triggered by the increasing concerns regarding baby safety, new products have been developed to replace older and risky designs and styles of practically every item of baby bedding. Stayput fitted crib sheets that remain fitted securely over the mattress irrespective of how hard an infant pulls at it, bumpers made of mesh to allow free flow of air, wearable blankets and other such items have become the most obvious choice of concerned parents.

Crib safety should be of prime importance for parents. This is because there is a fair amount of information about the fact that infants deaths can occur due to suffocation or strangulation due to unsafe layettes. Anything lying loose in the crib is a real hazard for infants. Soft pillows, bumpers, blankets and comforters are better outside the crib than inside it. But you cannot put away the crib sheet that you use to cover the mattress although there are safer options that you can choose.

Whereas much has been said and acted upon regarding the dangers posed by blankets, mattresses and cribs, not many parents are aware of the importance of crib sheets. Even though crib sheets are tight in the bed to start with, they can become loose and lead to suffocation overnight. The baby’s movements can cause them to come loose and cause the baby to get caught and tangled. There have been instances of infant deaths that have been reported where infants pulled over loose sheets and got entangled in them.

There are safety standards set by government agencies regarding size and fitting of cribs, mattresses and the materials used in the crib to ensure that infants are not exposed to undue risks. At present there are no safety standards for crib sheets. The time does not seem to be far when crib sheets will carry a warning for parents to ensure that they are tucked in adequately or that only stayput fitted crib sheets are used.
